However, now influencers have expanded their brand and their followers to various platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly known as Twitter). Social media influencers have become very powerful figures in today’s day and age because they are constantly shaping trends in different areas, from lifestyle to politics. As their presence continues to grow, it’s clear that their influence is reshaping not only how we connect with brands and trends but also how we view ourselves and our place in the world. This article will explore the multifaceted impact of social media influencers and their role in shaping our culture and consumer habits.
Impacts on Everyday Life
The impact that social media influencers have on our lives every day is undeniable. They have changed the way that we look at dierent things such as fashion, lifestyles, decision-making, beauty, and much more. According to IZEA, over 1,200 American consumers state that they have been impacted by the opinions of social media influencers when it comes to decision- making. By sharing their personal experiences, promoting products, or speaking out on social and political issues, influencers create a sense of trust and connection with their followers. For many people, such as young teenagers and adults, influencers become role models that they can follow and aspire to be. In addition to influencing consumer behavior, this relationship between influencers and their followers also impacts cultural values. Influencers will continue to shape our view of the world, ourselves, and our choices.
Consumer Purchasing Habit Changes
As we talk more about the impact of social media influencers, one of the biggest changes we have seen is within the consumer purchasing habits. Due to the connection between influencers and followers, the influencers are able to shape, evaluate, and motivate their followers purchasing habits. In an article written by IZEA, over 50% of people purchase products that they have seen influencers talk about or use, and The Trust in Influencer Marketing report found that 61% of respondents trust a sponsored post from an influencer more than the opinions of a celebrity because they view them as everyday people. Whether it
is products in the fashion industry, beauty industry, technology, or more influencer marketing with a combination of affiliate marketing, it motivates influencers to promote products to their followers and the general public. As a result, it has quickly become one of the fastest ways to connect and engage with consumers and influence their purchasing habits.
